OnePlus 3T Features

Let’s begin with aesthetics. The OnePlus 3T will be available in two colors: Gunmetal and Soft Gold. Inside we find the best mobile CPU on the Android side, i.e., the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 clocked at 2.35GHz. A nice upgrade from the SD 820 present on the OnePlus 3, and also the USP of the OnePlus 3T.
The phone still features a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display coated in Corning Gorilla Glass 4, It’ll sport 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage as well as a 128GB variant (not available earlier).

The rear camera stays the same 16MP IMX298 sensor shooter with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and 4K video recording capability. Meanwhile the front-facing camera has been upgraded to a 16MP Samsung 3P8SP with PDAF and f/2.0 aperture, this one will only be able to record 1080p @30fps… perhaps keeping in mind the growing selfie junta.

The OnePlus 3T will be fueled by a bigger 3400mAh capacity battery (3000mAh on the OnePlus 3) featuring Dash Charge fast charging technology, which they say it allows to charge a “day’s power in half an hour”.

The phone measures 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.35 mm and weighs 158 grams, it will support Cat.6 4G, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, GLONASS, NFC.

The fingerprint scanner on the OnePlus 3T is integrated in the front home button and it comes with Oxygen OS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Android N has been officially announced to arrive later this year.

The OnePlus 3T will be on sale for $439 for the 64GB version and $479 for the 128GB, starting November 22nd.

So that was it, a slightly upgraded OnePlus 3, with better front facing camera and bigger battery to please power users. Not a whole lot more than that!

 OnePlus 3T vs OnePlus 3: What’s Changed?

With the OnePlus 3T just having been announced, OnePlus have now two real flagships (or ‘flagship killers’ in their lingo) on the market. How do they compare to each other, though? Let’s find out in this OnePlus 3T vs OnePlus 3 comparison!

OnePlus 3T vs OnePlus 3: What’s Different?

As you may already know by now, there are not that many differences between the OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3. The physical appearance is literally the same, even down to the weight, which is somewhat strange because the battery is beefier by 13%!

The first real difference is the CPU. OnePlus has upgraded the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 clocked at 2.15GHz with a Snapdragon 821 clocked at 2.35GHz.This change of hardware should give the new device about 10% better performance but probably increase consumes as well.

The second difference resides in the front camera department. The older OnePlus 3 came with an 8.0MP front facing camera which I think is still OK by today’s standards; the new OnePlus 3T, on the other hand, will sport a camera that doubles the pixel count at 16MP, thus allowing you to get much sharper selfies (if that’s what was stopping you from taking them).
We’ll have to wait for some photo samples to come out and declare a real winner, though, as more pixels don’t actually necessarily mean better quality images.

Another subtle difference among the two devices is the introduction of a 128GB internal storage variant. The predecessor only had a 64GB option.
This new option is a good addition as neither of them have a microSD slot, so some user will actually appreciate having more storage at their disposal.

Last but not least, we have what probably is the best improvement of the OnePlus 3T over the OnePlus 3: the battery capacity.
The OnePlus 3 wasn’t that bad already, you could go through a day of heavy use with still some juice left. Now, the battery has been upgraded from 3000mAh to 3400mAh, that’s about a 13% increase in size and presumably, battery life.
The OnePlus 3T also features an improved version of Dash Charge which promises “a day’s power in half an hour“.

Before ending the article let’s have a look at prices, the OnePlus 3 can be bought for $399 from OnePlus’s official website.
The OnePlus 3T 64GB version will set you back $439, while the bigger 128GB variant will go on sale for $479.
